3D Wood – Nick Speakman

Tree and Stump Sculpture

Nick SpeakmanNick Speakman is a chainsaw carver and established carpenter living in Newbury Berkshire. As well as working locally I have worked in a variety of locations across Britain.

Originally from Taunton in Somerset I draw inspiration from the great outdoors; the way the elements shape the land, the animals and people that exist within in it.

On both public and private commissions large and small, I work closely with clients to fulfill their ideas. The energy and ideas that you have regarding your piece will be mirrored by me as we go from conception to completion of design.

I also create interior pieces for architectural designs for homes and business. Using a combination of chainsaws, power tools and hand tools, I utilize all my skills as a qualified carpenter and sculptor to produce inspiring pieces of art.

Tree and stump sculpture

From existing trees, dead standing or felled trees , I can create unique designs in situ. Working closely with qualified & experienced tree surgeons I can offer expert advice on tree health and any safety issues that may be evolved. In other respects, stump carvings follow the same process as other commissions within the constraints of the wood available.

Commissions

From small hand carved to very large, for private clients, local authorities, landscape designers and commercial companies, sculptures can be developed and produced in our workshop in Newbury Berkshire or on site . On both public and private commissions large and small, I work closely with clients to fulfil their ideas. The energy and ideas that you have regarding your piece will be mirrored by me as we go from conception to completion of design.

All work is covered by public liability and risk assessments can be produced if required.

Schools and community projects

I have worked with a variety of schools and community groups helping develop ideas and concepts, frequently taking a collaborative approach.
Through group involvement during the design stage, they can contribute to great effect towards an end result with a clearer understanding of the creative process. Projects have involved children giving verbal suggestions or village committees giving clear desires and requirements. Each process is unique personal to the project.

Carpentry

Using a combination of traditional hand tools and modern power machinery enables me to work with natural forms creating either purpose made carpentry and joinery, or work to off-the-shelf designs.

So if you have an idea of something you would like made or designed, either as a structural part of your home or a piece of  interior design that is making a statement, 3DWood can work with you from design to completion of project. I have extensive experience of working with builders, architects and interior designers. All aspects of carpentry undertaken.
